Ask a Librarian

If you have reference questions or concerns related to your library account, you can contact us at Ask@acpl.info.  Our team of librarians is available to respond to your questions and library-related needs.

Digital Resources & Databases

Even though the library is currently closed, our virtual library is still available 24/7.  You can check out books, audio books, music, and movies.  ACPL offers a large number of titles available as e-books and audio books through Overdrive, Libby, and Hoopla.  We also provide access to a large collection of music and movies through Hoopla and Freegal.  You can find them all here.

Our wide variety of databases can assist you with car repair, craft projects, preparing for college entrance exams, and everything in between.  All you need is a library card and a PIN.

If card holders need help using ACPL’s digital library, please contact library staff at ask@acpl.info

Digital Library Card

If you are an Allen County resident but don’t have a library card, we can help. You may sign up for an e-resource library card through the ACPL website by clicking here.  After filling out the necessary forms, new card information will be emailed to applicants within 24 hours.  Once card information has been received, residents may start using ACPL’s digital library immediately.

Spring Into Reading program

It’s never too soon to get ready for our Summer Learning Program.  When you sign up to participate in our Spring Into Reading program, you’ll be able to track your reading and participate in fun challenges.  This all-ages program runs now through May 31. Read, learn, create, and explore from the comfort of home.  You do not need a library card to participate in the Spring Into Reading program.  Learn more and register here.

Early Learning Resources

We know that now, more than ever, parents are looking for high-quality resources to help their children continue to learn and grow.

ACPL has created virtual story times featuring our children’s librarians.  The first two story times with Ms. Michal from the Georgetown Branch and Ms. Mary from the Main Library are available for viewing here.  Future story times will also be available on the Library’s Facebook page; Instagram; and YouTube page.

ACPL has a treasure chest of Early Literacy videos for children.  Your little ones will enjoy spending time with our librarians as they draw, sing, imagine, and even learn how to set the table!  All of these videos can be found on ACPL’s YouTube page.

Genealogy Resources

The Genealogy Center at the Allen County Public Library is the second largest family research center in the United States.  Though the library is currently closed, there are so many genealogy-related resources still available to you.  Here are just a few:

Our Genealogy staff is still available at Genealogy@acpl.info to answer your questions and guide you toward helpful digital resources.

The Genealogy Center’s webpage offers a variety of resources for family researchers, whether you’re in the beginning stages of your research or are more advanced in your research skills.

You can access a library of video resources created by our Genealogy staff.  These brief but informative videos can be found here

Genealogy staff will be offering programs.  Those will be announced on ACPL’s Facebook page
